Launch Your Career at the Frontier of Innovation

CBTax is the UK's and Ireland's fastest-growing R&D tax consultancy, and we're looking for an ambitious graduate with a finance, accountancy or business degree to join our team in Northampton. This isn't your average associate role, it's a dynamic launchpad into R&D consultancy, innovation, and technical strategy, blending financial expertise with hands-on R&D technical consultancy.

What You’ll Do

As an R&D Associate, you'll work directly with some of the UK & Ireland's most forward-thinking businesses to uncover how their innovations qualify for R&D tax relief. Think client-facing, analytical problem-solving, and crafting both financial and technical narratives every day.

You’ll

  • Engage with clients to assess innovative projects eligible for R&D tax relief, typically in industries such as Science, software development, engineering, pharmaceuticals and more.
  • Draft financial reports and contribute to technical reports for submission to Revenue, translating complex engineering and scientific activities into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Conduct technical interviews and site visits with senior technical and financial stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with tax and technical teams to build robust claims that exceed client expectations.
  • Manage client relationships, communicate progress effectively, and use tools like Salesforce for efficient project management.
  • Stay on top of Revenue guidance, emerging innovation trends, and R&D legislation
  • Identify opportunities to maximise clients' R&D claims and provide feedback to enhance internal processes.

What You Bring

  • A degree in finance, accountancy, or business management, with an interest in technical, engineering & scientific concepts.
  • Curiosity, analytical thinking, and a passion for problem-solving in both financial and technical contexts.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to simplify complex technical and financial details without losing substance.
  • Methodical, organised, and detail-oriented.

You’ll Thrive Here If You…

  • Are motivated by helping clients unlock their potential through tax-saving strategies and innovative funding.
  • Enjoy breaking down complex ideas, both technical & financial and turning them into compelling, understandable insights.
  • Have an analytical mindset and are excited to mix financial analysis with technical report writing and client interaction.
  • Are a strong communicator who can confidently represent our brand in diverse projects.
  • Value progression, mentorship, and being surrounded by professional people in a high-growth, high-impact consultancy.
