Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role description:

Arcadis is excited to be expanding its Nuclear team, specifically focusing on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in the Warrington area. We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor (QS) to support the successful delivery of the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Project. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Senior Quantity Surveyor and the Commercial Director (SMR Project) as part of the wider project team. Your responsibilities will include assisting with contract management and supporting the commercial management of supply chain contracts, as well as participating in procurement activities for the project.

You will be expected to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring adherence to commercial and business governance frameworks, processes, and procedures. Key responsibilities include contributing to performance management, assisting with risk mitigation, supporting issue resolution, and participating in financial oversight, change control, and compliance efforts. You will also be encouraged to focus on continuous improvement in all areas of your work.

In Quantity Surveying, you’ll help manage and deliver our projects on time, in budget and to the expected standards of quality. You’ll liaise with external contractors and consultants, report to clients and stakeholders, and deploy resources effectively.

You will be part of establishing a major programme, offering you the opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a First of a Kind (FOAK) UK SMR Project. While this is a fast-paced and exciting challenge, you should be comfortable with uncertainty, ambiguity and change.

Role accountabilities:

  • Support the management of contracts, assisting with the delivery and compliance of one or more contracts under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Assist with contract-related activities, including mobilization, performance monitoring, contract amendments, risk tracking, and transition or exit strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure governance, compliance, and adherence to performance management frameworks, escalating issues or risks to senior team members when necessary.
  • Support the review and administration of contract variations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and providing recommendations where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of contract performance, helping to assess value for money and report findings to senior colleagues.
  • Assist in tracking the realization of benefits from performance management regimes or change control processes, escalating non-delivery issues as required.
  • Monitor risk and reward mechanisms within contracts and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure effective performance.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and contractors to promote collaboration and mutual benefits.
  • Assist in holding suppliers accountable for their contractual commitments, supporting the resolution of disputes effectively and efficiently.
  • Contribute to maintaining accurate systems, reporting, and management information to support decision-making processes.
  • Ensure alignment with project strategies and broader government commercial policies, supporting adherence to best practices and frameworks such as those from the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, Government Commercial Function, and National Audit Office.

Please note there would be travel requirements x3 per week to Warrington
