Our planet’s oceans hold answers to some of the most significant challenges facing humanity today, and yet they are almost completely unknown and unexplored. At DEEP, our mission is to radically open up access to the oceans through pioneering new technologies. These will empower scientists and researchers to fully understand the impact of our current way of life on the oceans and find new ways for us to protect our seas, their inhabitants and ourselves.


What you will be doing


We are seeking a Project Manager to lead successful delivery of one or more of our major projects, ranging from delivery of an underwater habitat, coordinating missions, or manufacturing large components ensuring they meet agreed-upon requirements, budgets, and schedules.


  • Project Delivery: Oversee the successful delivery of projects, ensuring alignment with agreed requirements, budget constraints, and timelines, in accordance with the DEEP programme management framework.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication regarding project status, changes, and risks, facilitating timely and informed decision-making processes among stakeholders.
  • Project Structuring: Collaborate with project team members to define product and work breakdown structures, ensuring seamless integration with other projects, programmes, and departments.
  • Project Planning: Partner with the allocated planner to develop comprehensive project plans, establishing achievable and realistic timelines that align with the DEEP programme management framework.
  • Risk and Change Management: Ensure robust risk identification and change management processes are performed in line with the DEEP programme management framework.
  • Planning & Performance Collaboration: Act on information provided, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to maintain project momentum.
  • Decision-Making: Ensure the timely and effective decision-making necessary for the successful execution of allocated projects.


What you will need


  • Previous experience working within a Project or Program Management is essential
  • Experience of managing complex projects with budgets of £10m +
  • An understanding of Marine Operations is desirable
  • Previous experience working within a fast-paced start-up or scaleup environment would be hugely advantageous
  • Project Management qualifications – PMI, APM or Prince2
