Programme Manager

Public Health Wales

Date: 1 week ago
City: Cardiff
Contract type: Full time
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Quality, Safety and Improvement Directorate of the NHS Wales Executive and be part of a growing team providing effective, efficient and high level administrative and business support to the all-Wales Nurse Staffing Programme, enabling the delivery of the programme objectives on time and in full.

The post holder will have the ability to command respect and create a sense of community between team members, will liaise with nursing leads across NHS Wales, whilst also engaging with front line nursing teams and will demonstrate sufficient insight and experience to be both credible and articulate, in dealing with the professional nursing issues and any challenges that arise. The role involves building and maintaining key professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that the national programme of work is delivered and aligned with national strategies/programmes, ensuring all stakeholders are fully briefed.

The successful candidate will be part of a supportive and innovative team and will receive a comprehensive induction programme, have access to a range of supportive mechanisms and a wealth of opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills. The NHS Executive offers flexible and agile working arrangements and supports hybrid working with attendance in their main office (Capital Quarter, Cardiff) as required by the team.

This post will primarily provide support to the Head of the All-Wales Nurse Staffing Programme, to whom the post-holder is accountable, in the effective and timely delivery of responsibilities as set out in the Nurse Staffing Levels Wales Act (2016). The national programme of work has recently been refreshed and reflects the strategic aim of promoting the effective delivery of quality care through the provision of levels of nurse staffing based on clinical evidence and patient need, together with embracing and recognising the importance of a 'Team Around the Patient' approach.

The Programme Manager is a key and senior post within the Nurse Staffing Programme team, within the NHS Executive, with responsibility for strategic and operational deployment of the Nurse Staffing Programme, utilising a formalised programme management approach, as well as ensuring robust programme governance. The post holder will ensure the programme maintains momentum, creating an environment that facilitates programme delivery, whilst coordinating inter-dependent projects and demonstrating efficiency together with high-level organisation. Experience in monitoring, planning and controlling programmes is critical for this post.

The NHS Executive works in partnership for and on behalf of Welsh Government, in and with the NHS in Wales and is hosted by Public Health Wales.

Our key purpose is to drive improvements in the quality and safety of care - resulting in better and more equitable outcomes, access and patient experience, reduced variation, and improvements in population health.

We do this by providing strong leadership and strategic direction – enabling, supporting, and directing NHS Wales to transform clinical services in line with national priorities and standards.
