Department: Product Design Development

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 plus Car Allowance

The Product Design & Development Manager for Signage is responsible for driving the design, development and launch of innovative signage products from concept through commercialization. The role is very much a customer facing one, so good customer communication skills are a must. This role also involves collaborating with cross-functional internal teams, including design, engineering, marketing, and sales, to ensure that new products align with market needs, business goals, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in design and in particular new product development. An understanding of the signage industry and its associated products and manufacturing techniques could be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and manage the company’s product development strategy for signage solutions, including traditional, digital, and custom signage products. Align product initiatives with market trends, customer needs, and company objectives. Attend client scoping / survey meetings to gather key project information.
  • Concept Development: Be able to lead the concept process by producing initial deigns and then been able to develop them further in collaboration with customers, materials suppliers and in house departments resulting in a ready for market solution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure products are developed efficiently and meet quality standards. Coordinate with marketing and sales teams for product launch and promotional strategies.
  • Project Management: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization. Manage timelines and resources to ensure that product development initiatives are completed on schedule and within scope.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Work with external vendors, suppliers, clients and manufacturers to source materials and components. Work with internal team to outline terms and timelines to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of product components.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Lead product prototyping, testing, and validation processes. Ensure products meet regulatory requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations before mass production.
  • Industry Trends & Innovation: Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products in the signage space. Identify opportunities to integrate new technologies or approaches into the product lineup.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in Adobe suite.
  • Experience in basic CAD software.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of digital signage, including software and hardware integration.
  • Knowledge of eco-friendly signage materials and sustainable manufacturing practices.
