Key Responsibilities MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide project management support for Preclinical (Research) pipeline programmes for a fixed term contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the delivery of Preclinical pipeline programmes as assigned through consideration of company strategy, resource requirements and programme complexities.
  • Partner with programme leads to ensure effective progression, governance, communication, and planning of each of the programmes in the Preclinical pipeline (from target nomination to candidate drug nomination).
  • Ensure programme team meetings are run efficiently including scheduling, minutes, and tracking/follow-up of action items.
  • In accordance with Programme Management team plan and run Research Portfolio Committee (RPC) governance meetings for assigned programmes.
  • Develop structured plans with timelines and resource requirements and use to forecast areas of potential delays/issues/operational needs within the Preclinical portfolio and integrate with overall portfolio.
  • Produce resources and tools for reporting on the preclinical portfolio.
  • Effectively communicate and present pipeline project progress and timelines to key stakeholder groups including senior management, research leaders and programme teams (internal and partner).
  • Actively monitor and update pipeline programme team materials and resources such as rosters and action/decision trackers.
  • Proactively manage risks and ensure appropriate and timely communication and engagement of key stakeholder groups. Ensure visibility/ownership of risks implement agreed upon mitigations.
  • Provide administrative support for internal research programmes (e.g., folder management)
  • Support the transfer of assigned Preclinical programmes to development by helping ensure the transfer of information to the development programme lead / team.
  • Identify and aid implementation of opportunities to improve efficiency at both the individual project and portfolio level, in areas including scheduling, collaboration, data management, logistics and reporting.
  • Be part of the team that owns, champions, defines, and improves our project and portfolio management process.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience in an R&D Project or Product Management role in the Biotech industry with an in-depth understanding of the interrelationships of different disciplines and functions
  • Familiarity with PM tools and practices. Familiarity with Smartsheet desirable.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft environment (Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Exceptional relationship building skills and an ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders to help them to understand the scientific, clinical, and operational problems that need solving
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly proactive in identifying risks, raising issues, and identifying solutions within the project and predict where opportunities for improving processes may arise in the future
  • Delivery-focused mindset, capable of scaling at pace, taking operational and practical ownership of projects
  • Strong track record in a relevant scientific discipline

Education & Qualifications

  • Educated to BS/ BA level or higher in life science discipline or equivalent
  • Desirable: Masters/ PhD/ PharmD/ MBA in related area of discipline
  • Desirable: Formal project management training
  • PMP certification preferred but not required
