We're on the hunt for a strategic and commercially-minded Payroll Manager to lead our finance department.
This isn’t just about processing numbers. This is a crucial, high-impact role where you will take full ownership of our entire payroll function, ensuring every one of our team members is paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with all UK regulations. You'll be the architect of our payroll strategy, shaping the future of our systems and processes and building a high-performing team from the ground up.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the Way: Oversee the complete payroll process for all employees, ensuring precision and punctuality. You’ll be the go-to expert for all payroll-related inquiries and issues.
- Innovate & Improve: Implement robust payroll systems and procedures, leading key projects like system upgrades and process reengineering. You'll stay ahead of the curve, bringing the latest industry best practices to our team.
- Ensure Compliance: Guarantee we're fully compliant with all HMRC and employment laws. You'll prepare and submit all statutory returns, from PAYE to pension contributions.
- Manage Our Share Scheme: Take charge of our company’s share schemes, ensuring accurate record-keeping and smooth operations. You'll provide expert guidance to all participants.
- Build & Mentor: Determine the best structure for your team and lead with a culture of continuous improvement. You'll mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment.
- Collaborate: Work closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless integration and communication. You’ll provide regular, insightful reports to senior management.
- A CIPP qualification is essential—you’re a certified professional with a deep understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC regulations.
- You have a proven track record in a payroll management role, ideally in a warehouse, retail, or similar fast-paced environment.
- You're an expert in payroll software and systems (experience with Mitrefinch is a plus).
- Your attention to detail is second to none, and you thrive on solving complex problems.
- You have excellent leadership skills with a passion for developing others.
- You are a clear and confident communicator, able to build strong relationships at every level of the business.
- You are a strategic thinker with a proactive approach and a strong commercial acumen.
- You can manage pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of integrity and discretion.

- This role is FULL TIME based in our Leyland Office (With Occasional Travel to our site in Skelmersdale)
