Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a Patient and Public Engagement Ambassador (PPEA) to join the children and adolescent mental health research team (COMIC), working within the R&D department of Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust. This is an important role which will help us to run an established Young Persons Advisory Network (YPAN). This role will ensure children and young people’s (CYP) experience of participating in research is clear and simple, allowing as many service users as possible the opportunity to take part in research and get involved in research promotion within the Trust. The successful candidate will work closely with the R&D team to support research at all stages from study design, funding applications to recruitment of CYP, carers and staff and making results widely known.
Main duties of the job
Communicating with CYP, carers and schools. Coordinating engagement activities – newsletters, website content. Promoting COMIC and service user involvement in research. Evaluate success of YPAG by requesting feedback from attendees. Organise and run engagement events. Promote research projects.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for liaising with CYP and their carers and schools to recruit participants to the YPAN, and will act as a point of contact for these stakeholders within the COMIC team. They will also be responsible for engagement activities such as writing newsletters, updating website content, contributing to the PPI strategy of the COMIC team. They will organise and run research events, YPAN meetings and public engagement events. They will promote diversity in research by engaging with underrepresented groups within local communities. They will work with other Trusts and YPAG groups to broaden the scope of the COMIC YPAN. There will be requirement for flexibility to work evenings and weekends on occasion.
