The Council's Parking Service is one of a number, of front-line services within our Public Services directorate. They manage the operational elements of both on and off-street parking across Calderdale. This includes enforcement, operations, and administration.

An exciting opportunity has arisen, due to the growth of the service, to recruit a Technical Support Manager (new post). The post will be responsible for managing all aspects of technical support required for an operational parking service. The post will manage an existing team of Technical Support Officers whilst supporting the Parking Manager with the development of the service. The role will primarily be responsible for managing the processing of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) and permits. This includes ensuring that all incoming and outgoing correspondence is processed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with legislation, existing policies, procedures, and timescales.

We are looking for candidates that have experience of successfully managing a demanding front-line service and that can demonstrate both strong organisational and communication skills. They must have the ability to deal sensitively and professionally with a wide range of people and be able to prioritise both their own work, but also the work of the team. They must have both a flexible and proactive approach to their work, along with being able to work collaboratively with others to find practical solutions to problems. Knowledge of the Traffic Management Act and parking is desirable, but not essential.

The post will be primarily based in one of the Councils offices in central Halifax (the location will be provided upon appointment).

Closing Date: Thursday 7th November 2024.

Interview Date: Week commencing 25th November 2024.
