OPERATIONS MANAGER
ITP Aero UK are looking for an Operations Manager to join our growing team
ITP Aero is a leading company in the aviation industry, being the ninth largest aero engine manufacturer in the world by revenue and ranking among the top one hundred companies in the aviation industry globally.
ITP Aero has a workforce of more than 4,500 professionals (including +1,000 engineers) in 17 operating centres located in Spain, UK, Malta, USA, Mexico and India.
What is the objective of this role and what does it consist of?
You will lead a team of between 3 and 5 Production Managers and between 45 and 85 shop floor professionals. You will be responsible for ensuring that on-time product delivery is achieved at the right quality and cost in a safe working environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for the leadership of strategic improvements within a defined area.
The successful candidate will:
Be accountable for ensuring that customer commitments are met in full, measured against agreed HSE, quality, cost, delivery, people and responsiveness standards.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for:
Health, Safety and Environment
- Leading the HSE management for your area.
- Ensuring your team is trained and compliant to safety standards, driving environmental targets and promoting wellbeing.
- Conducting area HSE reviews and ensuring area Risk Assessments are in place.
- Owning and managing actions for HSE improvement.
Delivery
- Supporting the Production Managers in achieving the production plan and securing resources to achieve this consistently.
- Leading the co-ordination of manufacturing engineering, planning and control, and quality teams to resolve issues.
- Demonstrating a full understanding of visual performance monitoring across an area and managing throughput performance dynamically.
- Coaching both Operators and Production Managers to use and improve performance monitoring systems.
Quality
- Driving to zero defects. Working with all functions to reduce risks and drive product and service right first time. Ensuring compliance to all relevant company legislative and technical policies and standards.
- Weekly Sustainment and 5S checks and improvement plans of your area, including; cell basics, asset care, calibration.
- Leading and coaching problem solving (SCRA, 8D).
Cost
- Working with Production Managers to ensure resources are balanced in the area.
- Owning strategic cost improvement initiatives.
- Maintaining the area consumables budget.
- Demonstrating clear business acumen and understanding of operational finance.
People
- Optimising the capability and capacity of the manufacturing area by developing a flexible team.
- Obtaining full understanding of skills requirement for your area and implementing training plans to address any gaps.
- Clearly articulating and communicating the strategic long term view and supporting briefings with - or in place of - the Head of Manufacturing.
- Communicating daily with all Production Managers and fellow Operations Managers to understand cell and site priorities and updates.
Improvement
- Leading and driving improvement programs to enable and sustain change, including cross site improvements.
- Demonstrating a full understanding of Value Stream Mapping and an ability to coach teams to make improvements.
What profile are we looking for?
It is essential that the successful candidate:
- Has a company wide outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working.
- Has an understanding/knowledge of multiple disciplines demonstrating breadth of experience.
- Has a proven track record delivering improved operational performance in both favourable and unfavourable conditions, utilising cross-functional teams.
- Has experience of deploying continuous improvement methodologies such as lean and six sigma, ideally with Green Belt accreditation.
- Has management experience in an engineering or manufacturing organisation.
- Has attended higher education and/or leadership development programmes.
Who will I work with (in my team and in collaboration with other areas)?
You will work at ITP Aero’s Hucknall site, located in Nottinghamshire.
Your team will comprise of professionals with extensive experience in the aerospace manufacturing industry. You will lead a skilled workforce and integrate Manufacturing and Design Engineering capabilities.
What are the working hours?
37 hours per week predominantly working core daytime hours.
Shift coverage is a requirement in the role to support holiday or absenteeism within your management team.

What is the remuneration and competitive employee benefits?
Leadership Level: Manager
Salary: Starting from 58k
- 25 days annual leave (inclusive of 5 fixed days)
