An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Macmillan supported position as an experienced senior nurse, with an Oncology / Chemotherapy background, to join the Cancer Services team. You will provide clinical leadership and expertise in Oncology by providing information, support, advice and specialist knowledge to patients, their families, and carers. You will act as an expert resource, assess, contribute, and deliver education to patients/carers, medical, nursing, AHP and social care colleagues and students, including primary and community care teams. The ideal candidate will have experience as an Oncology CNS/ANP with chemotherapy experience as well as evidence of enhanced clinical practice and ability to carry out nurse lead clinics supporting immunotherapy pathways and working to develop a Nurse led PICC service.

The post holder will participate in the co-ordination of oncological patient care to ensure continuity throughout the patient's care pathway. They will be pivotal in review and development of the service, and to reflect the needs of the patient group, will liaise closely with the health care teams of inpatient wards, outpatient department and primary care, including Consultant Physicians and GP's.

The post holder will be a Senior member of the Oncology team with specific responsibility to work alongside the Oncology Consultants supporting the service development and a focus on immunotherapy pathways. They will work in a leadership capacity role, leading and developing nursing practice for patients and colleagues within the Oncology department.

The role has line management responsibilities for the Acute Oncology CNS team and the post holder will be expected to manage performance, education and development alongside service improvements to meet the demands of the service.

This rapidly expanding modern and busy service offers many training opportunities for their staff, recent developments have led to the opening of our cancer centre in February 2020 and the upcoming opening of the Radiotherapy centre in 2024 linked to Oxford University Hospital. This developing service is supported by a forward thinking & supportive Management Team, Nurse Practitioners, Palliative Care Team & Macmillan Wellbeing and Support Centre.

We firmly believe in holistic care, with a newly established wellbeing team to enhance the recovery package for patients living with and beyond cancer. We have Citizen Advice Bureau onsite and offer a wide range of carers and patient support groups.
