Maritime Capability Trials and Assessment (MCTA) is Navy Command’s independent equipment capability assurance organisation. We are a diverse team who face a constantly evolving vista of work. Led by a Royal Navy Captain, supported by a mixture of Military and Civil Servants, MCTA provides an assortment of maritime services to deliver highly effective capability assurance to the maritime domain of the MoD.
The lively Business Support Group (BSG) provides a multitude of key support services such as Operational planning, IT services, Business travel services and administration support crucial for the delivery of business outputs. The Business Support Officer is a significant and rewarding role within the dedicated IT and administrative support element of the BSG.
We are located in Victory Building within Portsmouth Naval Base which offers excellent facilities including easy access to travel networks, onsite car parking, an outlook over the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and is within walking distance to Gunwharf Quays and other local attractions. HM Naval Base Portsmouth is an operational support and maintenance base providing a home base for ships and their staff.

To provide executive support to the Captain and the Senior management team.

Person specification
Our ideal applicant will have good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage their own workload, prioritising and reassessing as tasks are received. They should be confident in numeracy and be proficient in their written and verbal communication.
Applicants should have a keen interest in IT and possess a high level of digital literacy. They will have sound practical experience of MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word and SharePoint or equivalent applications.
Candidates should be able to work well under pressure and have a desire to deliver an excellent level of support, with the highest level of accuracy and be prepared to work flexibly in order to ensure that all personnel receive exceptional customer service.
Desirable
An experienced Information Technology Security Officer and have a passion for detail, compliance and regulations (Appropriate security training courses will be available and provided for suitable applicants).
A curiosity in cyber security and evolving digital technologies.
It is desirable that applicants hold a full UK manual driving licence and be willing to drive MOD provided vehicles to support the Travel Cell in delivery of vehicle management.
