About The Role
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with mental health needs. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel supported and understood.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist students with mental health needs on an individual basis or in small groups, offering emotional and academic support.
- Work with teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support plans tailored to each student’s needs.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging students to engage in school activities and build positive relationships.
- Track and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Assist in the preparation of materials and resources to support student learning and well-being.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with mental health needs is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- A compassionate approach and the ability to remain patient in challenging situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
- Any relevant qualifications or training in mental health or special education will be an advantage.
- Willingness to adapt to the needs of the school and students.
