The Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader's role is to:

  • Build capability of the whole school with regard to mental health and wellbeing (identification, promotion and prevention),
  • Provide support to staff to better identify and support students with mental health needs,
  • Establish clear pathways for referral for students requiring assessment and intervention, and monitor and evaluate student progress.

The role provides a proactive focus for the promotion and prevention of mental health and wellbeing through assessment and implementation of context-relevant programs, approaches and initiatives based on a broad and extensive knowledge of the needs of the school.Mental Health and Wellbeing Leaders are provided mandatory training in mental health literacy, supporting emerging needs, and building school capacity and receive ongoing support and professional development through structured and regular attendance at Learning Communities. Training is developed and facilitated by the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at University of Melbourne, supported by Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • relevant qualifications ie. Masters in Wellbeing
  • a commitment to Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children;
  • an understanding of and willingness to embrace the MACS 2030 Strategy, including the MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement
  • registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching;
  • accreditation to teach Religious Education (or a willingness to gain this accreditation);
  • commitment to teamwork and the skills to work collaboratively;
  • a passion for working with children, dedicated to supporting their academic, emotional and spiritual growth; and
  • openness to reflection and a commitment to professional growth.

The St Anthony's community promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.The position currently available is a twelve month fixed term contract for the 2026 with possibility to extend into 2027.Application ProcedureApplications should include:

  • A current Curriculum Vitae detailing your experience, skills and employment history - including the details of any volunteer work involving children;
  • the names and contact details of at least three referees. It is a requirement that applicants include their most recent two principals/employers as one of their referees; and
  • the completed and signed Application Form (attached)
  • Applicants require VIT registration
  • Applicants will be required to have a strong understanding of the Child Safe Standards and relevant policies.
