About The Role
Role Purpose
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator with proven experience in the UK energy market, particularly in Energy Centres, District Heating, and Heat Networks. The role will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical elements of bids and tenders, supporting our growth in low-carbon and sustainable infrastructure.

About The Role
Role Purpose
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator with proven experience in the UK energy market, particularly in Energy Centres, District Heating, and Heat Networks. The role will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical elements of bids and tenders, supporting our growth in low-carbon and sustainable infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including plant rooms, energy centres, pipework, and district heating infrastructure.
- Analyse tender documents, specifications, and drawings to understand scope and identify risks/opportunities.
- Prepare and present cost breakdowns, clarifications, and supporting documentation for bid submissions.
- Collaborate with design, commercial, and operations teams to ensure estimates are realistic and achievable.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and validate pricing.
- Support value engineering exercises and alternative solutions to improve competitiveness.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates, material costs, and innovations within the energy sector.
- Contribute to handover meetings, ensuring smooth transition from pre-construction to delivery teams.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the UK construction/energy market.
- Specific background in Energy Centres, District Heating, or large-scale mechanical infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, installation methods, and materials.
- Familiarity with energy transition technologies (e.g., heat pumps, thermal storage, low-carbon energy solutions) desirable.
- Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and related tools.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and commercial awareness skills.
- Strong communication skills — able to liaise effectively with internal teams, clients, and supply chain.
- HNC / HND / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline (preferred).
- CSCS card or willingness to obtain.
