Join our well-established Engineering team distributed across our UK office network in this pivotal role, leading our Peat and Geology assessment team to further growth and success! You’ll be a subject matter expert on a range of Onshore Renewables & Infrastructure projects, both in the UK and Internationally. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their career, work on a range of exciting multi-disciplinary projects and contribute to the climatic transition. Offer can be made at either Managing or Principal Consultant level depending on experience, applications are welcomed from people already operating at this level, or from experienced Senior Consultants looking for a step up.

The role

You’ll work alongside experienced staff to manage a range of environmental assessments, field-based surveys and technical advice. Tasks include;

  • Overseeing and providing technical leadership for Peat, Soils and Geology studies including Environmental Statement chapters, Peat and Materials Management Plans and Peat Hazard Landslide Risk Assessment
  • The production of Environmental Impact Assessment chapters, Peat Assessments and Outline Construction Environmental Management Plans
  • Managing field-based survey works such as walk over surveys, peat coring, dip well installation, peat probing and site inspections
  • Conducting quality assurance and independent technical reviews
  • Analysing and contributing to technical design documents
  • Working alongside experts from other environmental teams including ecology and biodiversity, landscape architecture, hydrology and peatland management teams to develop holistic environmentally friendly solutions
  • Analysing and contributing to technical design documents
  • Leading liaison with various stakeholders within the private and public sectors including renewable energy developers, environmental regulators and planning authorities
  • Supporting and facilitating business development through inputs into project tenders, including scoping schedules of works and completing preliminary baseline assessments of potential projects
  • Leading the growth of the team by developing the technical capabilities and careers of its members

About You

  • Solid experience working in similar roles
  • A relevant degree qualification
  • Knowledgeable in current practice and governing standards/guidance for the investigation and remediation of contaminated land
  • Familiarity with the production of Phase 1 geo-environmental desk top study reports incorporating a preliminary risk assessment
  • Competence in the use of GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS)
  • Familiarity with the planning process and Local Authority existing data acquisition
  • Experience in planning, organising, and managing field work
  • A full driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK & Ireland, and willingness to travel within these countries when required
