The shift pattern for Community CAMHS Teams is Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00 however we are willing to discuss the flexibility around your own shift pattern to meet team’s needs.

We are looking for a full time Band 6 Specialist Mental Health Nurse to join Specialist Children’s Services at North CAMHS - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Community Team based at Woodside Health and Care Centre. The post holder will have responsibility for the joint assessment and treatment planning of patient care within a CAMHS community setting. The post holder provides a service to a defined geographical area for children and young people and their families who are experiencing moderate to severe psychiatric disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders. This also includes those whose vulnerability and mental health is impacting negatively on most areas of their life.

You Will Be Expected To

  • carry out all relevant forms of individualised care planning
  • as well as group-work in partnership with patients, families/carers and other service providers.

A systemic approach is necessary, which involves offering interventions which take account of the young person and significant others, such as family members, other service providers and Education. Participation in regular clinical and line management supervision with the Nurse Team Lead, and developing the role of the band 6 nurse within the multidisciplinary team will be a key aspect of the role. Alongside offering line management and clinical supervision to junior nurses in the team. Also have evidence of team working skills, excellent communication and organisational skills, an ability to work using own initiative and without direct supervision in the context of agreed tasks.

Demonstrates a positive attitude towards children and young people and knowledge of factors which impact on mental health and emotional well-being. An ability to fulfil main duties and responsibilities as outlined in band 6 job description.

You Must Demonstrate

You should have the ability to function competently as a member of the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team and have knowledge of factors that impact on mental health and emotional wellbeing. You must be able to conceptualise vulnerability, including risk factors and intervene to competencies identified in ‘Essential CAMHS’ and a commitment to personal and professional development. You should have evidence of organisational skills and experience of multi-disciplinary working. The team provide community-based tier 3 NHS specialist mental health assessment and intervention based on the principles of equality, dignity and respect and which takes into account spiritual and cultural diversity. It is essential you are a first level Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disability Nurse with current NMC registration and substantial relevant post registration experience. It is desirable that some of which be within CAMHS or Adult Mental Health with being able to evidence good transferrable skills. Within CAMHS we have robust CAMHS training and development programme and encourage all staff to participate in ongoing learning. This includes a range of training such as essential CAMHS for those who are new to CAMHS.
