The Role


Suttons International, a family-owned global logistics business, and is seeking a Logistic Coordinator to join its team in Widnes. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and operational excellence. Working closely with Sales, Operations Supervisors, and Headquarter teams, to manage the efficient and cost-effective execution of services sold to customers, encompassing the handling and logistics of their products across local, regional, and global markets.


This position is to support the Euro Short Sea Team and the hours are 09:00 - 17:00.

Key Responsibilities


  • Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Customers, ensuring excellent service and satisfaction.
  • Proactively identify and address customer needs and concerns.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with Customers and Consignees to meet their specific service and reporting requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee and facilitate the entire lifecycle of logistics operations, encompassing all aspects of job management from initial booking to final delivery.
  • Implement robust procedures to ensure accurate and efficient job setup from the initial booking, minimising delays and maximising customer satisfaction.
  • Efficiently record and manage the entire customer order fulfilment process from order entry to delivery, verifying the accuracy and completeness of all order information. Maintain consistent and proactive communication with customers throughout the order lifecycle, providing timely order updates, address inquiries, and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and maintenance of all relevant logistics documentation, including those related to hazardous goods and international trade regulations.
  • Plan and monitor all inbound and outbound deliveries, effectively coordinating with internal teams, customers, and suppliers (e.g., shipping lines, hauliers, depots) to ensure seamless and cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate with the Planning Team to optimise the availability and allocation of tank assets for jobs.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient handovers between Origin Office Export and Destination Office Import, minimising disruptions and optimising end-to-end service delivery (where applicable).
  • Accurately allocate and reserve costs to jobs on a timely basis, ensuring any variances between quoted and actual job margins are identified and investigated.
  • Accurately prepare and submit customer invoices with relevant customer approval codes. Manage receivable approvals to ensure timely payments of Main, Additional and Supplementary revenue. Resolve customer billing inquiries and disputes effectively.




Requirements


  • Proven experience in customer service roles, ideally within the logistics industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong customer relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle customer inquiries, complaints, and disputes.
  • Experience in logistics operations, including order management and execution.
  • Experience with software or systems (e.g. TMS, ERP or other relevant logistics software).
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and cost control concepts.
  • Experience with invoice processing and reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and results-oriented approach.
