DN Colleges are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant based at Doncaster College.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to individual learners, helping to remove barriers to learning and encouraging students to work independently and productively. You will work closely with students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including those requiring personal care.

As part of the recruitment process and in line with keeping children safe in education, we will conduct social media checks on shortlisted candidates. Additionally, before commencing employment, all employees undergo safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to individual learners, helping to remove barriers to learning and encouraging students to work independently and productively. You will work closely with students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including those requiring personal care.
What You'll Be Doing
- Student Support: Assist students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, providing personal care when necessary.
- Learning Facilitation: Encourage active participation in learning and support retention and achievement.
- Collaboration: Liaise with tutors and other support staff to address student support needs.
- Administration: Complete all relevant administration and contribute to student support planning.
- Training: Attend regular monitoring and planning meetings, and undertake mandatory and job-specific training.
- Exam Support: Assist with access arrangements for exams.
- Qualifications: Good written and oral communication skills at GCSE level (or willingness to work towards them).
- Experience: Previous experience working with students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create a supportive environment for students.
- Working knowledge of information technology systems.
- Ability to produce management information, reports, and statistics.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals or groups from diverse backgrounds.
- Personal Qualities:
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
- Good organisational skills and a professional attitude.
- Discretion and confidentiality at all times.
