About The Role
The core responsibilities of Junior DBAs are commissioning, maintaining, tuning and offering technical advice on highly available SQL Server databases that underpin the finova hosted Core Banking Solution solutions.

About The Role
The core responsibilities of Junior DBAs are commissioning, maintaining, tuning and offering technical advice on highly available SQL Server databases that underpin the finova hosted Core Banking Solution solutions.
As Part Of The Cloud Operations Team, DBAs Will
- Please note this role is hybrid, onsite 3 days a week
- Control access permissions and privileges
- Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
- Ongoing, proactive monitoring of databases and subsequent reporting to ensure optimum performance of applications
- Carry out capacity planning
- Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of database
- Developing operational SQL script in support of BAU activities
- Supporting the BAU Infrastructure team and Service Desk team on diagnosing issues that may be associated with SQL server.
- Work with finova project teams to install and configure new SQL services to support the onboarding of new clients.
- Write database documentation, including data standards and procedure
- Contribute to providing risk free continuation of services
- Ensure consistency across environments and proactively reduce drift where identified
- Ensure systems meet the security standards and follow GDPR and ISO27000 security and data protection practices
- Act as part of a wider resolver team for incident resolution
- You must be able to work flexibly (there will be occasional weekend and out of hours working)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in RDBMS, specifically in Microsoft SQL Server with a demonstratable track record
- Hands on experience of working within public cloud such as Azure and associated DBaaS technologies
- Proven ability to diagnose issues that involve database infrastructure, and subsequent fixes
- Experiencing of developing, displaying, and maintaining metrics for areas such as performance or reporting purposes.
- Experience in building and supporting Microsoft SQL Clusters, including Always-on availability groups with experience in building and supporting SSRS / SSIS i.e. ability to support Data Analysts and\or BI Developers
- Experience in using TSQL i.e. ability to write complex SQL queries
- Relevant Industry recognized certification is an asset
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, working within a high profile and high-pressured organisation
What will you be doing?
- Uses database management system software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed database maintenance and administration tasks.
- Develops appropriate physical database design elements, within set policies, to meet business change or development project data requirements. Interprets installation standards to meet project needs and produces database or data warehouse component specifications.
- Installs or removes software, using supplied installation instructions and tools . Conducts tests, corrects malfunctions, and documents results in accordance with agreed procedures. Reports details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated. Provides assistance to users in a professional manner following agreed procedures for further help or escalation.
- Assists in the configuration of software and equipment and the systems testing of platform-specific versions of one or more software products. Documents faults, implements resolutions and retests to agreed standards.
- Following agreed procedures, identifies, registers and categorises incidents. Gathers information to enable incident resolution and promptly allocates incidents as appropriate. Maintains records and advises relevant persons of actions taken.
