What to Expect
We are recruiting for a Graduate to join our IT team at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey. Technology underpins every part of McLaren’s operations, from design and engineering to manufacturing and customer experience.
This is a two-year rotational programme designed to accelerate your technical development and business understanding, preparing you for a long-term career in IT.
Please note this is an on-site position.
What You'll Do
As an IT Graduate, you’ll be part of a structured development programme designed to give you broad exposure across our IT function. You’ll rotate through teams which could include cybersecurity, data engineering, artificial intelligence, enterprise solutions and commercial solutions, contributing to real projects from day one. As an example of some of the tasks you may work on:
Cybersecurity
- Continuously monitor and analyse real-time security alerts and potential incidents to ensure the security of the organisation's data and systems. This includes identifying and responding to threats in a timely manner to mitigate risks.
- Assist in the implementation of protective security measures and awareness campaigns. This involves working closely with other departments to ensure that security protocols are understood and followed, and that employees are aware of the latest security threats and how to avoid them.
- Conduct regular exposure scans and risk assessments to identify potential weaknesses in the system. Ensure compliance with best practices and industry standards to maintain a robust security posture.
- Support the development of proactive cyber defence initiatives. This includes researching and implementing new technologies and strategies to stay ahead of potential threats and collaborating with other security professionals to share knowledge and best practices.
Data Engineering & Artificial Intelligence
- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines, incorporating AI-driven optimisation techniques.
- Support ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure accurate and timely data flows, leveraging AI for enhanced data transformation and anomaly detection.
- Work with data analysts to support operational reporting and business intelligence, using AI to uncover deeper insights and predictive analytics.
- Help ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity through validation and monitoring tools, enhanced by AI algorithms for real-time error detection and correction.
You’ll also take part in business-wide training, development workshops, and innovation challenges that sharpen your technical, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
What You'll Bring
- You must have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a 2:1 or above in a relevant degree discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a related field.
- A passion for technology and its application within a high-performance environment.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and data literacy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A customer-first mindset with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You must also bring a passion for cars, and a desire to work at the cutting edge of the automotive industry within our IT business area
