BCHA

Date: 1 day ago
City: Yeovil
Contract type: Full time
BCHA is a forward thinking, dynamic and vibrant place to work. We employ great people who are committed to our values and want to achieve the best outcomes for those most in need of our services to ‘find a way forward’.

We look for enthusiastic, passionate, caring people who thrive on delivering effective services and going the extra mile. In exchange for your commitment, we will make sure you get the rewards, training and benefits you deserve. Our aim is to create a professional environment in which you can thrive: we want you to be able to be your best self in the workplace.

Position:

Are you passionate about supporting people to sustain their tenancies and thrive in their communities? At BCHA, we’re looking for a dedicated Housing Officer to join our team and take ownership of a patch of properties, providing a high-quality, person-centred housing management service.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Proactively manage a patch of BCHA properties, supporting customers to sustain their tenancies in line with legislation, regulations, and our policies.
  • Be a visible and approachable presence in your patch — building relationships, identifying support needs, and helping customers achieve positive outcomes.
  • Maximise rental income by managing arrears effectively, encouraging a rent-first culture from day one.
  • Support customers with financial wellbeing, including setting up payment plans and helping them access financial inclusion services.
  • Manage tenancy matters, including sign-ups, successions, assignments, notices, court work, and evictions.
  • Respond to and deter anti-social behaviour (ASB) using the full range of legal tools and working alongside agencies like the police and local ASB teams.
  • Oversee voids and tenancy terminations, managing referrals, assessments, and ensuring KPI targets are met.
  • Carry out regular estate inspections, prioritising health and safety, and working collaboratively to maintain safe, well-managed environments.
  • Deliver an Intensive Housing Management service, supporting customers with bidding and personal housing plans.

We’re a not-for-profit housing and support organisation helping people to find, sustain, and thrive in safe and secure homes. We offer a supportive and inclusive workplace, a strong team culture, and opportunities for learning and development.

BCHA Safer Recruitment: Safeguarding children and adults is our first priority and we will ensure we follow safer recruitment procedures.

As an employer, we will do everything possible to prevent unsuitable people obtaining employment with BCHA. Our overall aim is to ‘deter unsuitable applicants from applying for roles with children and adults, and we will ensure that all candidates are treated fairly, consistently and in compliance with current legislation.

BCHA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of people, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

Requirements:

Experience in housing management, tenancy sustainment, or a similar frontline support role

Strong understanding of relevant housing legislation and regulatory standards

Confidence in managing rent arrears, tenancy issues, and ASB cases

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strengths-based approach

Organised, proactive, and able to work independently in the community
