Job Overview
Developing Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Band 6-7 – Voice Outpatients and acute inpatients (1 WTE)
We have an exciting new vacancy in BCUHB East Speech and Language Therapy adult team. You will lead and continue to develop both our voice service and our service for acute inpatients, with a focus on surgery and ENT. You will lead the Joint Voice Clinic along with an ENT consultant and there are also opportunities to participate in FEES and Videofluoroscopy clinics.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated Speech and Language Therapist, who is fully dysphagia trained. Based on your experience, we will support you to progress in this role with our band 6-7 competency framework. Previous experience of working in Voice and the ability to manage a caseload independently is necessary, as well as experience of working with acute inpatients.We are looking for a clinical specialist who can support and develop SLTs and TIs, represent SLT within the MDT and help to drive the future development of our services for voice and inpatients. We have excellent working relationships with our ENT department, including a twice monthly Joint Voice Clinic.
You will be part of the friendly and supportive BCUHB East Adult Speech and Language Therapy team where there is a wide range of expertise and experience. There is excellent peer support and regular clinical supervision. We have regular team meetings and have strong links with other specialist services. There are regular cross team CPD and training opportunities as you continue to develop your clinical skills. There is access to regular therapist-led and MDT clinics including Videofluoroscopy and FEES, with opportunities to develop your skills in these areas and possibly tracheostomy and critical care. You will lead a range of service improvements and MDT initiatives are encouraged.

- Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S<
- HCPC registered
- Post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience at this level
- Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio.
- Clinical supervisory experience
- Membership of appropriate clinical network group
- Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice
- Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate
