Heritage Car Assembly Manager

Williams Racing

Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Witney
Contract type: Full time
Williams is looking for a Heritage Car Assembly Manager, someone with hands-on experience building and running race cars, a deep understanding of historic motorsport, and a proven track record in workshop and project management.

This is a rare opportunity to lead the preparation and delivery of our iconic Heritage car collection and customer vehicles, working at the heart of a team that celebrates the legacy of Williams in Grand Prix racing. From restoration to event execution, you’ll ensure every car and component meets the highest standards on time, on budget, and ready to impress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the build, preparation, and disassembly of Williams-owned and customer Heritage cars, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Oversee associated car equipment preparation for events, ensuring specification compliance.
  • Manage Heritage team resources to meet departmental targets and optimise workflows.
  • Collaborate with Design, Parts, Inventory, Race Coordination, and Business Development teams.
  • Liaise with engine suppliers and technical personnel to meet engineering and event requirements.
  • Identify and report faults and reliability risks, working with Design to resolve issues.
  • Implement best practices to improve build quality, reliability, and reduce workshop time.
  • Track technician time via in-house software to support efficiency analysis.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide regular updates to the Heritage Director and stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with organisational project management frameworks and change control processes.

About You

You’re an experienced motorsport professional with a solid grounding in the historic (ideally) car industry. You enjoy a fast-paced environment and bring a proactive, hands-on approach to everything you do. With strong organisational and project management skills, you’re confident leading workshop operations and coordinating across departments to deliver high-quality results.

You’re a natural communicator who builds strong relationships internally and externally, and you’re comfortable adapting to the demands of live events and tight deadlines. Your technical expertise is matched by your attention to detail and your ability to juggle multiple projects without compromising on quality whilst delivering on time.
