An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Nursing at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust within the Collaborative for James Cook Cancer Institute and Specialist Medicine

The Head of Nursing will be part of a triumvirate team and will be jointly accountable for developing the longer term strategic direction of the JCCISM collaborative in partnership with the Clinical Chair and Service Manager, providing clinical expertise. The triumvirate team is supported by a senior multi-professional team comprising of a Clinical Director, Management support and Clinical Matron for each of the Service Groups.

As a key professional leader the Head of Nursing will provide strategic and operational direction to all nurses within the collaborative, be responsible for providing high quality patient focused care, ensuring robust risk management and governance arrangements are in place.

The post holder will be an integral part of the Trust senior nursing team working with other Heads of Nursing, Associate Directors of Nursing, Deputy Chief Nurses and Chief Nursing Officer.

We are seeking a highly motivated, values driven nurse with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to drive towards developing a safety first culture at South Tees.

Leadership and Improvement Training

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to

  • Explore leadership within the NHS
  • Promote Trust Values and Behaviours
  • Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
  • Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
