This is a transformational moment for St Catherine’s. As the College approaches its landmark 70th birthday entering a bold new chapter under the leadership of its newly appointed Master, Jude Kelly CBE who is a globally recognised cultural leader and champion for creativity and inclusion.
In this pivotal role, you’ll work directly with the Master and the senior leadership team to bring an ambitious new vision to life. You’ll manage a small team and lead the development and delivery of a dynamic communications and marketing strategy that celebrates the College’s distinctive identity to foster deeper engagement with alumni and stakeholders which showcases the innovative spirit that sets St Catherine’s apart.

The opportunity:
The new post of Head of Communications & Marketing is a crucial one within the College. The role focuses on managing and enhancing the College’s multi-channel communication, marketing, branding, public relations, and media strategies. Its goal is to strengthen relationships with external audiences—alumni, parents, friends, prospective students, the general public and internal members such as Fellows, students, and staff. This will be achieved through consistent, effective communication across the website, e-publications, social media, email, print materials, and internal channels.
Main responsibilities:
Communications and Marketing Strategy
- In collaboration with the Master and relevant internal stakeholders, develop and implement a comprehensive Communications and Marketing strategy that encompasses both internal and external communications. Regularly monitor market and competitor trends, conducting thorough evaluations to inform decision-making. Ensure effective budget management to maximize value for money and support the continuous improvement of future initiatives.
- Lead the development and management of the College’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all internal and external communications. Work closely with stakeholders to establish a clear, compelling brand vision that aligns with the College’s values and objectives, and oversee its implementation across various channels to enhance brand recognition and engagement.
- Produce fresh and engaging PR material, including press releases, and source and circulate up-to-date coverage of Fellows’, students’ and alumni achievements using various communication platforms.
Digital Marketing
- Take the lead on the delivery of a new College website, alongside the management of both the College and Conference websites
- Regularly update social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn to foster stronger relations with our alumni, parents, friends and commercial prospects
- Promote, working with the Admissions and Outreach Team, the College’s Outreach and Admissions activities to prospective students
- Research, write, commission, edit, collate and send the termly College e-newsletter, blogs, social media posts, opinion pieces etc. for both internal and external purposes.
- Work with creatives (i.e., graphic designers, photographers, editors) to provide high quality materials and content.
- Produce metric reports to analyse the effectiveness of our communications strategy
- Market and promote public College events such as student events, lectures and recitals
Benefits:
- Salary banding: £46,000-£55,000, dependent on experience
