Date: 3 weeks ago
City: Plymouth
Contract type: Full time
The Opportunity

We're expanding our Geo Division in Exeter and are seeking a Geo-environmental or Geotechnical Consultant or a senior level consultant to join us. If you're looking for career progression and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects in sectors like renewables, defence, commercial, and residential, we would like to hear from you. Our Exeter office offers a dynamic base for delivering transformative projects across the UK and beyond.

Based at the Exeter Science Park, our office is located at Junction 29 of the M5, with cycle routes and public transport routes from Exeter City Centre. The office is a modern work environment with panoramic views across Exeter and east Devon. The office includes a number of Stantec’s technical disciplines who focus on water, ecology, infrastructure, and development sectors.

Our geo team collaborates closely with other disciplines across Stantec to support clients through the planning and construction process. We provide expertise in scoping site investigations, interpreting field data, producing interpretative reports, and offering construction phase support.

Some of our upcoming projects involve innovative systems and alternative approaches to manage ground risk in karstic environments, slope stability and the remediation of brownfield sites across the southwest .

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience working across a range of ground conditions and producing interpretative reports and is ready to take the next step in their career development as they work towards chartership.

About You

Your academic qualifications will include a BEng, BSc, or higher degree in Contaminated Land, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, and you'll be working towards achieving Chartership with a relevant institution. Alternatively, you may hold a first degree in Geology with an MSc in Contaminated Land or Geotechnical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

You'll thoroughly understand ground investigation techniques and have proven experience in scoping and managing these. You will take the lead in scheduling chemical and geotechnical testing, both in situ and laboratory, with the ability to interpret the results accurately. You'll have developing experience in writing clear interpretive reports.

Per our hybrid working practice, you will be expected to travel into the office frequently. You'll be self-motivated and proactive, enjoy solving technical challenges as part of a collaborative team, and deliver successful outcomes for clients.

The employer for this position is Stantec Hydrock Limited, part of the Stantec companies .
