PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Festival Production Executive will lead and oversee the strategic planning, event site production and stakeholder coordination of BBC Radio’s flagship live music events- Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Radio 2 in the Park.
The role will be responsible for overseeing all council and event producer contracts, ensuring that agreements are clearly defined, compliant, and aligned with the strategic goals of the festival. This includes managing timelines, deliverables, and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders. With significant financial responsibility, the Festival Production Exec will lead on the event production budget, ensuring accurate forecasting and value for money across all areas of delivery. They will act as the primary liaison with external partners for both events.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
- Technical Production - You'll support the event site technical planning, production and delivery, including working with our external Event Producer to oversee a well-organised site operation and ensuring the seamless integration of audio-visual technology and stage design, delivering a high-quality creative live music experience.
- Stakeholder Management - You will need to manage external relationships with key stakeholders including councils, partners and external suppliers to collaborate and foster effective working relationships.
- Innovation and Creativity - Champion innovation in live event production and stay ahead of industry trends. Serve as a BBC ambassador for creative excellence and audience experience. You'll drive a culture of continuous improvement, working to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement, ensuring Radio 1's Big Weekend and Radio 2 in the Park remain premier events in the UK's live music calendar.
- Financial Responsibility - Oversee the governance and procurement of the production budget, ensuring that there is transparency and accountability in the expenditure for the delivery of the event production.
- Health & Safety - Lead the implementation of health, safety, security, and safeguarding protocols to ensure the events meet the highest legal and BBC standards, working with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) and licensing requirements to safeguard the wellbeing of all participants and attendees. This role is the primary liaison with external partners on Health and Safety
- Strive to deliver events that are inclusive, diverse, and accessible throughout the entire project lifecycle.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Exceptional organisational leadership – ability to lead complex projects, manage multiple priorities, and deliver under pressure with precision and attention to detail. Ability to lead complex timelines, negotiate effectively, and deliver within budget constraints.
- Extensive knowledge of event and festival event management and production, including infrastructure, creative staging and ensuring the broadcast across BBC platforms is at the heart of the planning
- Deep understanding of event management, licensing, health & safety, and accessibility standards in live event environments
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, especially with written content and visuals.
- You will also need to be a good team player with great communication skills, able to work under pressure and take the initiative.
- You will also need strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of BBC systems
