Main duties of the job
You will have a varied role which involves managing a wide range of duties and tasks including
- Lead the planning and delivery of a range ofstaff-led fundraising events – from challenge events, Bath Half Marathon Team, to the flagship RUHX Walk of Life. Including all aspects of event logistics and marketing.
- Deliver on ambitious income and expenditure targets improving ROI year on year.
- Build relationships with local groups, companies, schools, and individuals to grow engagement and income.
- Develop and deliver inspiring opportunities for volunteers to support our work.
- Develop engaging personalised supporter journeys that build long-term relationships with our participants and supporters.
- Represent RUHX at community events, talks, and meeting, acting as an enthusiastic ambassador across Bath and the surrounding areas.
- Proactive, highly organised, resilient and creative in problem solving.
- A people person who thrives on building relationships and inspiring others.
- An experienced events professional, with a flair for organising and delivering successful public events.
- Passionate about engaging communities and making fundraising fun, inclusive, and impactful.
- Comfortable with occasional evening/weekend work and travel in the region.

- Educated to degree / diploma level or equivalent experience
- Excellent standard of English - written, spoken and grammar
- Member of Institute of Fundraising or equivalent professional body
- Business / charity marketing, or fundraising qualification
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in ‘Event and/or Community’ fundraising theory and strategies that have encompassed the use of prospect pools / research / gift assessment / donor motivation / solicitation techniques / high profile events etc, designed to engage mass participation donors resulting in securing income targets.
- Significant experience in an account / relationship management role providing high levels of customer care and dealing with complex, sensitive relationships aimed at securing engagement, agreement and income.
- Significant experience of developing excellent working relationships with, and the engagement of, both a wide cross section of the public and senior level professionals in the charity and other sectors.
- Experience of generating income and meeting significant income targets
- Sound understanding of current UK laws, processes and procedures relating to Events & Community fundraising
- Ability to interpret and implement with minimal guidance, legislation surrounding the events & Community fundraising, national standards, and Institute of Fundraising Codes of Practice relating to donor engagement and involvement
- Significant experience of close Team working and co-operation to achieve best outcomes for an organisation’s objectives
- Experience in media relations and using social media to drive engagement and sign ups to events and community initiatives.

- Ability to lead, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of policies and strategies within areas of responsibility
- Sound analysis / interpretation of Donor / supporter motivations & requirements, and devising / amending appropriate strategies
- Ability to plan complex mass participation events, campaigns and media work, with an aptitude for organisational detail including developing comprehensive action and project plans for areas of responsibility. This includes full project planning covering event logistics, health & Safety, Marketing, licencing
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills at a senior level including:
- Leading on the design and production of high quality communication material, ensuring it meets the needs of the target audience.
- Ability to use IT systems including Microsoft Office software, plus knowledge of Raisers Edge NXT relationship management database to produce reports, publications & proposals
- Ability to budget and control the use of financial and other resources
- Ability and confidence to work under own initiative / motivation and able to time-manage and prioritise workloads in busy and demanding circumstances with tight timescales;
