European Technical Centre - Mechanical Engineer

Location: Milton Keynes

The Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our European Technical Centre. The successful engineer will be required to deliver the very best technical support to our customers, the European subsidiaries, the Japanese Technical Centre and SMC headquarters. Within the role, the engineer will be required to support with technical inquiries, investigate product claims, testing of products for customers or other subsidiaries, creation of various technical documentation, identify, develop and deliver training, research within the market including trends and competitor activities and providing support for new products in the European market. Our European Technical Centre is currently expanding, providing growth opportunities for those who join. As part of our global development team led by SMC Japan, we are focused on delivering solutions to our customers that are innovative and future proof.

Essential Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree 2:1 or higher
  • Ability to plan and manage own projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of writing technical reports and engineering documentation
  • To work as part of a multicultural team who deliver results by consensus.
  • Passport and Driving licenses required, as there will be some UK and European travel in the role.
  • Understanding of MS office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Desirable:

  • Experience in design of machined parts
  • Knowledge of CE, UKCA, UL and related standards
  • CAD, CAE basic knowledge.
  • Basic Electrical Engineering knowledge.
