- Manage the development and delivery of new technology and prototype projects to meet the performance, cost, quality, and delivery requirements of the customer or internal to Airtechnology.
- Manage the engineering resources to deliver the New Technology and Prototype development activities.
- Manage the engineering resources to deliver the electromagnetic solutions required by the Engineering Department
- Interpret requirement specifications and interface effectively with other disciplines to contribute to an overall coherent design process.
- Develop and maintain the engineering capability (skills, tools, test equipment) to meet the strategic objectives of the organisation.
- Work with the other Engineering Managers to share resources as applicable to provide required skill sets or expertise.
- Collaborate with wider Engineering team at Sunbury and Bangalore in establishing, developing, and delivering the technology and product roadmaps
- Provide technical proposals, project costings and development plans for new opportunities, working with the wider Engineering and Programmes team.
- Develop strong technical relationships with the customer base.
- Provide technical support during customer visits.
- Support the annual budget preparation.
- Undertake the annual staff appraisal process including SMART objective setting and identification of training needs
- Manage new employees through the probation review process.
- When required, support recruitment including candidate interviews and selection.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or closely related discipline. Post graduate technical qualification preferred.
- Experience of 7 years or more with increasing technical responsibility for New Technology and/or Prototype Product development for high integrity products and systems containing some of the following: electro-mechanical components, motors, fans, fluid mechanical components, actuators
- Demonstrated experience of effective team management
- Strong technical depth in specific sub-discipline areas, and good breadth of understanding across most engineering disciplines
- Strong ability to draw conclusions from data analysis to make robust, informed design decisions
- Strong ability to present technical information effectively to groups of 10 to 50 people and communicate effectively at all levels of the business.
- Effective project management skills
- Collaborative, cross functional approach to problem solving.
- Valid UK Passport
