Brief Description
This is an Electrical based role which requires applicants to already be qualified in Electrical installation qualifications at a minimum of NVQ level 2 but NVQ level 3 Preferred
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must also hold Level B High Voltage to Be considered for the role

As a technician you’ll work outdoors in a team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.

About The Role (External)
Our technicians Electricians provide the essential link between the team leader and the team’s operatives, and can specialise in a range of disciplines, but for this role you’ll become a specialist in:
Distribution and Plant - You’ll be working with Electrical distribution and plant equipment which is instrumental in powering the railway network. With your willingness to learn, you’ll develop a huge range of technical skills across a range of manual, electrical and digital equipment.
Our technicians work outside in all conditions, at all times of the year, day or night. You could be involved in demanding manual work, often with the need to transport kit, across tricky terrain. Being safety focused, respectful of rules and a team player will be critical as you’ll often be working next to moving trains travelling at highspeed.

You will be a natural team player; you’ll also be able to lead the team when asked by the team leader. You’ll use your skills to deliver work safely and will check the team has the right competencies to meet our strict safety standards. You’ll also be a role model for safe working behaviours and be confident to challenge any potential risks to safety, so that everyone gets home safe every day.
Today’s technicians can go onto become tomorrow’s team leaders.

Brief Description

- C&G 2382 and C&G 2365, or
- an advanced apprenticeship in railway engineering with an electrical E&P bias, or
- course(s) deemed equivalent to either of the above, such as courses provided by the armed services, or
- provide evidence of previous experience in an electrical industry verified as acceptable by the Route Head of Asset [E&P], or their delegated authority.
- City & Guilds – 236 Part 2, 2360, 2330, 2365, 2357, 8202 or 5357 and 2381.
- BTEC - Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Electrical Installation.
- EAL - Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Electrical Installation

- Shifts – Technician roles involve a changing shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.
- Outdoor working - Our technicians work outside in all weathers and so you’ll be comfortable working in different conditions.
- Safe working - Offers of employment are subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment and BPSS pre-employment checks. This will include a hearing and eyesight examination.
- Driving - As a technician you’ll also need a driving licence (category B) so you can drive Network Rail vehicles.
- Commute times - You’ll also need to be within a 60-minute commute of the location that you’re applying for.
