We operate 24/7 and as such you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on-call rota. Full training / PPE / use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.

Position: Drainage Engineer

Location: Swindon STW, Thames Valley Region (Swindon, Wiltshire)

Job Type: permanent, full-time

Hours: 4 days on 4 days off, 40.25 hours (doing both early [6am-6pm] and late [11am-11pm] shifts)

Salary: £34,000 per annum (made up of basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

About The Role

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.

  • Travelling to residential sites via HGV in a two person team, around the region powering a high-pressure water jet for restoration.
  • Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
  • Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
  • Run diagnostics and repairs on drains
  • Delivering good customer service.
  • Maintaining good H&S practise while carrying out works.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
  • To comply with health and safety responsibilities i.e. PPE / safe site set ups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
  • To be able to utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
  • Liaising with the client regarding progress and any updates.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc
  • Dynamically risk assess site access & working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival
  • Provide support to your colleagues.
  • To conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
  • Report any defects or malfunctions in regards to training.
  • Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them
  • Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management

About You

The ideal candidate will be hard working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
