Our team in Swindon provides person-centred support to individuals aged [e.g., 16-25] as they transition into adulthood, fostering their confidence, resilience, and life skills.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and motivated Support Worker to join our dynamic team. In this rewarding role, you will be instrumental in guiding and supporting young adults to develop the practical and emotional skills needed for independent living. You will act as a positive role model, helping them navigate the challenges and celebrate the successes of their journey towards greater autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:
Person-Centred Support: Work collaboratively with young adults to create and implement personalised support plans that focus on their individual goals and aspirations.

Life Skills Development: Provide hands-on support and guidance in areas such as:

Budgeting, managing bills, and understanding benefits.

Meal planning, shopping, and cooking healthy meals.

Household management, including cleaning and personal hygiene.

Attending appointments and accessing community services.

Community Integration: Encourage and assist young people in accessing education, training, employment, and positive leisure activities within the local Swindon community.

Emotional & Social Wellbeing: Offer emotional support, build trusting relationships, and help individuals develop coping strategies, build self-esteem, and manage social interactions.

Safeguarding: Maintain a safe and secure environment, adhering to all safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare of the young people we support.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily notes, support plan reviews, and incident reports, in line with company and regulatory standards.
Collaboration: Work effectively with colleagues, families, social workers, and other external agencies to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to support.
About You (Person Specification):
Essential:
A genuine passion for empowering young people and a belief in their potential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust.

A patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude.

Resilience and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.

The ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts if required.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Desirable:
Previous experience in a support role with young people or vulnerable adults.

An NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).

Knowledge of the challenges faced by young adults leaving care or transitioning to independence.
