We are searching for an exceptional, dynamic midwife to lead our services, inspire our workforce, and make a lasting impact on the future of our maternity services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
As the Director of Midwifery you will be at the forefront of delivering safe, compassionate, high-quality care while working as part of the perinatal quadrumvirate to align strategic and operational goals and ensuring that our maternity services remain 'good' as rated by the CQC.
Your leadership will shape the professional development of midwives, advocate for the highest standards of care for our women and birthing people and drive the continuous improvement of our services.
You will provide professional leadership, guiding our services with compassion and excellence and working with key stakeholders such as the Maternity & Neonatal Voices Partnership, local and regional systems fostering a positive culture of safety and learning.
The ideal candidate will have experience driving strategic change and fostering an inclusive, positive work culture, along with exceptional communication skills to motivate and inspire teams to deliver outstanding care.
This integral position is part of the senior leadership team within the Care Group and works under the direction of the Care Group Senior Leadership Team with professional accountability to the Chief Nurse. The main purpose of the role is to provide leadership, guidance and support to all nursing and midwifery staff within maternity and neonatal services. The post holder will lead the quality governance, risk management and patient experience for Maternity ensuring safe effective care is consistently delivered.
The post holder is accountable for ensuring the appropriate management and leadership of the midwifery teams, holding Deputy Head of Midwifery, Consultant midwife , Matrons, specialist nurses, ward and department leaders as well as clinical practitioners to account to ensure that organisational performance and national standards and quality indicators are monitored and appropriate action is taken according to results.
This role encompasses the development of services through the implementation of innovative strategies to ensure an empowered workforce at all levels that is fit for purpose and equipped to deliver excellence in care standards, including securing the workforce for the future.
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We serve a population of around 500,000 people - a figure that can increase significantly with
visitors during the busiest times of the year. We employ approximately 6,700 staff and have a budget of approximately £580 million.
