Applications are now invited for a permanent position as Diabetic Eye Screening Manager in NHS Tayside.
The Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme offers comprehensive annual screening to eligible people with diabetes in Tayside to reduce the risk of blindness. Currently the service screens around 28,000 people each year and is managed within Elective Medicine with close operational responsibilities with Public Health and is part of the national Diabetes Retinopathy Screening Collaborative. The service is delivered by a team of Screeners and Administrators with a presence in Ninewells, PRI and other venues throughout Tayside.
This post provides an exciting opportunity for individual who can demonstrate highly effective communication and interpersonal skills. The postholder will be responsible for providing leadership of the Screening Team, and for the delivery and development of the service while working as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary Diabetes Team.
The postholder will work closely with patients, carers, GPs, Practice Managers, Nurses and other Health Care Professionals, to deliver an effective, quality assured, person-centred service. This post offers the opportunity to drive forward service improvements, and the successful applicant will play a key role in determining the strategic direction of the service.
The post will be based in the Diabetes Support Unit at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, and will require travel throughout NHS Tayside.
We are looking for an individual educated to degree level with good IT skills and experience in screening programmes.
