This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills in the following six-monthly rotations: Respiratory (including ICU and HDU), Orthopaedics, Vascular and Amputee Therapy, Acute Medicine, Neurosurgery / Neurology, Acute Stroke, Stroke Rehabilitation, Medicine for the Elderly, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Paediatrics, and Community Rehabilitation.
You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, discharge and onward referral. This is an exciting time for a motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking HCPC registered Physiotherapist who is a team player with excellent communication skills to join us as we continue to expand and develop our Physiotherapy services. This post provides the potential to enhance your knowledge and skills in a busy and fast paced environment with a focus on evidence-based assessment and rehabilitation, early supported discharge, multi-professional integrated working and continued professional development. The post holder will deliver physiotherapy interventions and develop therapeutic programmes and discharge pathways to meet the needs of the patients referred to the service.
You should have demonstrable clinical skills/knowledge, with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across the specialities. You will work closely with physiotherapy support workers and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and Research. The department has strong links with universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Allied Health Professions are moving to 7 day working and this post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7-day service/rota.
You will participate on the on-call rota (week overnights and weekends) after a period of training and supported induction.
Ongoing personal and professional development is essential to provide a quality service and is supported through a CPD programme consisting of workshops, lectures, action learning sessions, self directed study time and feedback through supervision and appraisals. Support will also be ensured to complete the Flying Start programme (first 12 months of qualifying) specialty competencies within each rotation. The Physiotherapy service in Dundee is dedicated to deliver the best service possible through expanding skills and knowledge, streamlining service and providing the best possible patient care.
Applications are also welcomed from physiotherapy students in the final stages of their undergraduate studies. Support and mentorship will be provided to help you develop into the role of a newly qualified physiotherapist.
