Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems.
- Develop data processes and ETL pipelines to support analytics and reporting.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and security across all systems.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and IT professionals to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
- Implement measures to ensure data privacy and security in line with relevant laws and regulations.
- Contribute to the development of data standards and best practices.
Essential Skills
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Java (Programming Language): Proficient in Java programming language with a strong understanding of its ecosystems.
- General Data Engineering Skills: Demonstrated experience in data engineering, including data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehousing principles.
- SQL (Search Query Language for relational databases): Proficiency in writing complex queries and managing relational databases.
- Python (Programming Language): Experience in Python programming language, particularly for data manipulation and analysis.
- Elasticsearch (Search / Storage Technology): Knowledge of Elasticsearch for efficient data search and storage.
- Understanding of symmetric key cryptography: Familiarity with encryption techniques and data security protocols.
- Understanding of common file formats and serialisation techniques: Understanding of data serialization for efficient data transfer and storage.
- Strong knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- IBM Certified Data Engineer.
- Cloudera Certified Data Engineer (CCDE).
- Apache NiFi Certified Developer.
- AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty.
