About The Role...
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Customer, the Customer and Market Insight Manager partners with Buying, Marketing and Merchandising to identify and meet insight needs.
The role integrates Customer, EPOS, Panel and Pricing data to uncover performance drivers, size opportunities and guide trading and marketing decisions.
By embedding robust customer and market insight into day-to-day and strategic planning, the manager shapes the business’s current and future strategy, driving growth, profitability and customer-centric decision making.

Your Impact And Responsibilities…
Market Insight
- Proactively identify market/category trends, threats and opportunities from EPOS and Panel data to drive timely actions.
- Inform proposition development and evaluate strategic initiatives such as category development, new product launches, and overall category performance.
- Embed customer and category insight into category reviews and long-term category strategy.
- Lead/coordinate market-facing research and post-implementation readouts for category initiatives, with clear KPIs.
- Systematically track competitor pricing, price architecture, and promo tactics to anticipate moves and ensure our value proposition remains clearly differentiated and market advantaged.
- Integrate Customer, EPOS, Panel and Pricing data to quantify elasticity and inform price/promo recommendations.
- Embed pricing insights into category reviews and trading forums to guide decisions and protect profitability.
- Champion a customer-centric, data-driven culture by delivering clear insights into customer behaviors and motivations.
- Act as the insight business partner to Trading and Marketing—build data literacy, advise on the right analyses, and align stakeholders on a common view of performance.
- Provide continuous, actionable insight to Marketing to shape planning, targeting, creative and communications; evaluate campaign effectiveness.
- Identify additional data requirements and support the development of self-serve tools/dashboards to improve access to insight across the business.
- Support the Director of Marketing & Customer in delivering timely, credible customer insight to leadership and the wider business.
Skills and Attributes
- Data-literate with a talent for storytelling and turning complex data into clear, actionable insight.
- Strong communicator — able to influence at all levels and present insight compellingly across written, visual, and verbal formats.
- Builds trusted stakeholder relationships and manages expectations effectively.
- Commercially minded, curious, and confident in forming and sharing opinions.
- Adaptable problem-solver with strong organisation, prioritisation, and Excel skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and resilient with a strong drive to deliver excellence and do what’s right for customers.
- Positive, collaborative attitude with a bias for action.
- Background in Research, FMCG, or Retail environments.
- Skilled in integrating multiple data sources (transactional, survey, web, external such as Nielsen/Kantar).
- Proven track record of delivering high-impact, strategic insights within deadlines.
- Experience coaching and developing junior team members.
