Background and job summary

Pensions for Purpose exists as a bridge between asset managers, pension funds and their professional advisers, to encourage the flow of capital towards impact investment. Our aim is to empower pension funds to seek positive impact opportunities and mitigate negative impact risks.

We are a gender-diverse, employee-owned and member-based business, with a Board that represents our various stakeholder groups. We are also a Certified B Corporation, which means we consider society and the environment in our decision making. Our team is passionate, driven and motivated, thinking laterally about business solutions. We offer a flexible working environment to encourage people from all backgrounds, and a meritocratic and transparent culture. Our CEO shares the business plan and financials with employees as they are presented to the Board. Bottom line – we want change, so we have to be the change.

We are an online business with staff working from home and provide different service lines to our members and partners:

  • An online Knowledge Centre where thought leadership, case studies, podcasts and events are shared.
  • A Community through which we deliver online roundtables, training and networking.
  • In-person events, such as our Annual Symposium & Awards and partnered masterclasses.
  • Impact Lens research on industry trends in ESG, sustainable and impact investment.
  • Encouraging support and adoption of the Impact Investing Principles for Pensions.
  • Policy advocacy, and bespoke projects with pension funds and their advisers.

We are seeking a remote-based Content Manager to oversee and develop our members’ content and our own material created in-house. This role is a crucial part of a small team, so we are looking for someone with a passion for English and content production, who can conceptualise items from rough drafts through to the finished article – be it written content, visuals, podcasts or videos. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, the flexibility to cope with a fast-changing environment and close attention to detail. An interest in environmental and social issues and the desire to make a positive impact is also important.

Responsibilities

Oversee member content, in particular checking:

  • uploaded items from members, processed by the Content Coordinator, for appropriateness and disclaimers;
  • text for accuracy, house style, link and picture;
  • socials wording, correct handles and accurate scheduling.

Process member content in the Content Coordinator’s absence.

Ensure smooth onboarding and offboarding of members and Partners, from reviewing member profiles and quotes to coordinating member content.

Attend online meetings with members requiring guidance on Knowledge Centre use.

Create and dispatch content-focused mailings.

Play a lead role in the restructuring of the Knowledge Centre, from scoping technical requirements to implementation of new tagging and filters.

Develop and maintain the editorial style guide.

Provide editorial input on, and proofing of, Pensions for Purpose content, ranging from blogs to event write-ups, press releases and Impact Lens research reports.

When appropriate, liaise with outsourced designers to ensure timely turnaround of editorial collateral.

Create original content based on bullet points, bringing together own and others’ ideas.

Support the Community (and wider) Pensions for Purpose team with collateral – for example, editing written communications and editing/publishing videos.

Provide editorial feedback on new business stream collateral (including partnered products) to ensure consistency of voice.

Manage the annual podcast programme including:

  • scheduling all podcast recordings;
  • liaising with our outsourced podcast agency;
  • proofing transcriptions subbed by our Content Coordinator and completing the transcriptions when they are absent;
  • setting up podcast webpages;
  • identifying podcast snippets for socials;
  • ensuring timely publication of podcasts on website and socials.

In liaison with our outsourced providers, monitor and improve content analytics, for Pensions for Purpose and member content, including overseeing production of analytic reports by our Content Coordinator and producing these when they are absent.

Maintain slide libraries, with assistance from the Content Coordinator and our outsourced designers, and input from the Marketing Manager.

Prior experience of podcast and video creation would be helpful.

Professional but personable verbal manner and email style, with confidence to meet with members.
