Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Community Staff Nurse to work within our Generic multi-disciplinary teams in the St. Asaph and Rhyl. The post holder will support the Health Visiting Team to provide a service based on the Healthy Child Wales Programme as indicated by Welsh Government. They will support the health visitors by carrying out delegated work and providing parenting support to families, whilst contributing to the delivery and organisation of the public health programme.

Based within the community setting the Community Staff Nurse will be responsible for assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of care offered to families under the supervision of the Delegated Health Visitor .They will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing their own work load and delivering evidenced based practice to families, delivering the Healthy Child Wales Contacts.

We offer an induction and preceptorship programme and the post holder will receive regular managerial supervision, and safeguarding supervision from our Clinical Nurse Specialist Safeguarding.

This post may be seen as a developmental post, with the applicant possibly applying for the SCPHN training in the future.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • RGN /RN with children’s nursing experience

Desirable criteria

  • RSCN or Child Branch
  • Previous community experience
  • Previous experience working within a skill mix team

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Able to carry out assessments through appropriate questioning, observations and accurate recording
  • Able to collate and interpret information to devise intervention based on formulation
  • Able to deliver effective clinical intervention with children, and their families

Desirable criteria

  • Able to use formal assessment tools / clinical interviews
  • Able to implement specific evidence based approaches

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate a keen interest in public health and working in the community.
  • Previous experience of working with children and families
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable criteria

  • Able to use formal assessment tools / clinical interviews
  • Able to implement specific evidence based approaches
  • Experience of working with policies related to Safeguarding children.

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Good knowledge of family dynamics and the issues of working with families
  • Has a range of skills and expertise relevant to the care of children
  • Able to work autonomously, planning and prioritising own workload

Desirable criteria

  • Understanding of service structures and inter-agency working
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice
