Communities Policy Officer – Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner

If you get your energy from bringing people together and have experience working in partnership with the public and colleagues from other agencies, then we have the perfect job for you.

A vacancy has arisen for a Communities Policy Officer in the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

This is a role where no two days will be the same. One day you might be out in the community with the Police and Crime Commissioner talking to residents about policing; the next you could be translating central government legislation into local policy.

There are some great reasons to apply - here’s just a few:

  • You will be working as part of a small and friendly team that works hard with other agencies to improve community safety, support victims of crime and help prevent people from re-offending.
  • You will be helping to improve people’s lives – from responding to emails from residents sharing their personal experiences to arranging targeted events to gather community feedback about local crime and disorder issues.
  • You will be offered a hybrid approach to the working week balancing time in the office, out in the community and at home.
  • You will have a chance to travel across the county and get paid expenses for all miles above your usual commute.
  • You can join Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and save for your future.

The role is advertised at full time (37 hours a week) but applications for reduced hours will be considered.

The role offered as an SO1 grade with a starting salary of £33,915.

Existing experience working within policing, the criminal justice system or community safety world would be a bonus, particularly in public engagement, and would help you hit the ground running.

You must be able to travel to the office, and around the county and elsewhere, for events and meetings to meet business need.

If this sounds like a job for you and you want a quick chat please contact Catherine Kimberley, Head of Engagement and Communications via: [email protected]

The deadline for applications is 27th October 2024.

Candidates successful at the shortlisting stage will be invited to an initial Teams Interview on Monday 4th November to further expand on how they meet the minimum entry requirements. Final face to face interviews for those passing the Teams Interview stage will be held on Monday 11th November at Police Headquarters in Huntingdon.

Please note, as below, the statement of no more than 500 words should be against the minimum entry requirements as stipulated in the role profile not the competency and values framework.

For the purposes of the application, you will be expected to provide your CV as well as evidence against the minimum entry requirements (MERs). There is a word count limit of 500 words for the MERs.

If you are shortlisted for interview, you will be expected to evidence against all CVF competencies and the minimum entry requirements as stipulated in the role profile.
