About Relation

Relation is an end-to-end biotech company developing transformational medicines, with technology at our core. Our ambition is to understand human biology in unprecedented ways, discovering therapies to treat some of life’s most devastating diseases. We leverage single-cell multi-omics directly from patient tissue, functional assays, and machine learning to drive disease understanding—from cause to cure.

This year, we embarked on an exciting dual collaboration with GSK to tackle fibrosis and osteoarthritis, while also advancing our own internal osteoporosis programme. By combining our cutting-edge ML capabilities with GSK’s deep expertise in drug discovery, this partnership underscores our commitment to pioneering science and delivering impactful therapies to patients.

We are rapidly scaling our technology and discovery teams, offering a unique opportunity to join one of the most innovative TechBio companies. Be part of our dynamic, interdisciplinary teams, collaborating closely to redefine the boundaries of possibility in drug discovery. Our state-of-the-art wet and dry laboratories, located in the heart of London, provide an exceptional environment to foster interdisciplinarity and turn groundbreaking ideas into impactful therapies for patients.

We are committed to building diverse and inclusive teams. Relation is an equal opportunities employer and does not discriminate on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability, or age. We cultivate innovation through collaboration, empowering every team member to do their best work and reach their highest potential.

By joining Relation, you will become part of an exceptionally talented team with extraordinary leverage to advance the field of drug discovery. Your work will shape our culture, strategic direction, and, most importantly, impact patients’ lives.

The Role

We are seeking a Communications Lead to shape and deliver Relation’s internal and external communications strategy. This person will strengthen how we communicate our science, our story and our culture — both within the company and to the outside world.

You will work closely with the SVP of Growth and other senior leadership team to build Relation’s voice, ensuring our communications are clear, compelling and aligned with our mission. The role will involve a mix of strategic planning and hands-on execution, covering scientific storytelling, thought leadership, brand development and internal communication initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a cohesive communications strategy aligned to Relation’s business objectives spanning internal, external and scientific channels
  • Partner with scientific, operational and leadership teams to craft clear, compliant and high-impact messaging, including scientific and thought leadership articles
  • Manage all press and media activity, including proactive engagement, reactive handling and message development
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, scientific writers and media outlets in the biotech and TechBio sectors
  • Oversee content creation across all channels (press releases, blogs, website updates, newsletters, social media and external agencies)
  • Define Relation’s tone of voice and ensure consistency across all communication touchpoints
  • Lead internal communications, company updates and community engagement initiatives
  • Identify and implement opportunities to raise Relation’s profile across the global biotech and AI-driven R&D ecosystem
  • Implement measurement plans to track the impact of communications and inform ongoing strategy and approach

About You

  • A strong scientific foundation — ideally with a degree in life sciences or similar experience communicating technical subjects
  • 5+ years of experience in communications, PR or media within biotech, science, or technology sectors
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling ability, with a track record of translating complex science into clear, engaging communications for different audiences
  • Experience building media relationships and managing press interactions
  • Strategic thinker who can design and deliver communication plans aligned to business objectives
  • Confident collaborator, capable of challenging constructively and influencing stakeholders
  • Creative mindset with strong instincts for timing, tone and audience engagement

Why Join Relation

At Relation, you’ll join a mission-driven team at the intersection of human biology, data science and AI. You’ll have the opportunity to define how a new category of biotech communicates — helping bring the company’s vision, discoveries and culture to life for both internal teams and the wider world.

We’re collaborative, curious and ambitious — and we believe that great storytelling is central to our mission to change how medicines are discovered.
