To assist the Farm Management Team in the placement of day old chicks, ensuring that stock is handled to the highest possible standard and meets the required specification in terms of welfare, quality etc. As a mobile position, a full driving licence is required to cover Broiler farms across East-Anglia and Lincolnshire. To ‘live’ welfare as a condition with the opportunity to grow and develop via our bespoke Agriculture Academy. ‘Growing our own’ agriculture specialists and leaders of the future is something that is extremely important to Moy Park.

• To gain a full understanding of poultry in MP.
• Contribute to that department/ add value by developing requisite skills in this area in line with MP competency framework.
• To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.
• To assist with the placement of day old chicks, on Broiler Farms ensuring quality, Bio-security and welfare standards are adhered to at all times.
• To be aware of basic first aid, should anyone require attention.
• To take responsibility, in conjunction with the Farm Manager, for self development and training.
• Bird welfare must be of utmost priority at all times.
• To distribute Top Up Bales when required to help bird welfare
• To Flush out drinker lines prior to Chicks arriving on farm to prevent a build-up of bacteria.
• To understand ventilation procedures for chick starts so that chicks can thrive and get off to a good start
• To ensure that all hygiene procedures are carried out to Company specifications, chemicals are utilised safely and to correct levels. So that the microbiological integrity of the farms’ hygiene is maintained at all times. Any shortfall in such procedures should be reported immediately to the Farm Manager.
• To have the basic understanding and working knowledge of the operation of all equipment on the farm. Liaising with the Farm Manager in order that defects are corrected promptly and without jeopardising the birds’ welfare. This includes fault finding and identification and minor or emergency repairs where these can be carried out safely and competently.
• To ensure that all aspects of Company policy regarding health and safety are adhered to so that bad practices which could be injurious to self, other employees or visitors are eliminated
• To take part in the responsibility for the overall security of the farm at all times. Ensuring that premises are locked and all reasonable precautions are taken to deter entry of unauthorised personnel.
• To suggest to the Farm Manager any improvement, which could benefit the farm and or the Company.
• A company vehicle is provided to assist you get to and from the farm. Mileage and defect sheets should be completed on a weekly basis and returned promptly to transport.
