The Role
We are looking to recruit a Charge Midwife / Community Team Leader to join the Maternity & Neonates Team at University Hospital Wishaw!
The successful candidate will assist the Senior Charge Midwife to deliver high quality evidence based woman and baby centred care.
The post holder will be involved in providing both individualised patient care and in planning. As well as implementing and evaluating clinical care within all areas of the maternity service, ensuring compliance with NHS Lanarkshire’s policy and procedures, and maintaining statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC.
The Charge Midwife / Community Team Leader will provide safe, effective centred person care.

Band 7 / 2x Permanent Posts / Part time / 34.5 hours & 21 hours

What We'll Need You To Bring
- Registered Midwife with valid NMC Registration
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
- Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
- Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
- The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills
- Working knowledge of basic information technology
- Current midwifery/nursing experience
- Presentation skills
- Training and facilitation skills
- Ability to work at strategic level
- Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence
