Job Summary
This post is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part time for 22.5 hours a week.
We are looking for an experienced Band 6 to join the Children's Autism and ADHD Assessment Service (CAAAS).
CAAAS is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Specialist Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Paediatricians, Psychiatrists and Administrators which offers assessments for Autism and ADHD for children in Gloucestershire.
The service is relatively new (opened September 2022) and has been coproduced with families and developed in line with the NHS 10 year plan. As a new service we continue to develop and explore how best to offer a high quality evidence based service, whilst addressing significant demand and long wait times.
When the service was developed, although it was developed as an assessment only service, there was recognition of the importance of the role of Occupational Therapy to support understanding of the sensory world of neurodiverse young people, alongside supporting with activities of daily living and understanding motor skill differences. This role was therefore developed to offer some limited post diagnostic support to families around these areas.
We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic , knowledgeable, and thoughtful team member who can help us to continue to offer so key pieces of Occupational Therapy support to the families who need it most.

The role is supported and supervised by our Band 7 Occupational Therapist.

Main duties of the job
The role is supported and supervised by our Band 7 Occupational Therapist.
You Main Roles Would Include:
- working with the band 7 OT to complete functional assessments, create personalised plans for families and supporting them to implement these
- Complete sensory based pieces of work, using the sensory rooms at Evergreen House or Acorn House
- Complete Movement ABC assessments as part of DCD assessment
- Co-facilitate group based support for families
- Support as part of the assessment team for children with clear needs
- Work closely with the MDT to support the understanding the development of functional skills and sensory differences
