About the role:


As a Business Development Manager, you will be pivotal in driving new business growth, building strong relationships with industry leaders, and identifying opportunities for expansion. You'll lead strategic sales efforts, support the business development team, and ensure our sector solutions achieve success. Collaborating closely with marketing, pre-sales, and senior leadership, you'll ensure our offerings align with industry trends and client needs. This role extends beyond sales—it's about forging long-term partnerships, delivering impactful solutions, and creating lasting value for both our clients and the business.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities within target sectors, managing the sales cycle from lead generation to closing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling sales propositions aligned with client needs and industry trends.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with clients, industry leaders, and partners, positioning Sword as a trusted partner.
  • Support and mentor the business development team, enhancing their contribution to the company's success.


Requirements


  • Proven experience in complex new-business software/IT sales, ideally within the sector market.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and a proven ability to develop and close complex sales opportunities.
  • Confidence in influencing decision-makers, developing creative solutions, and navigating complex business environments.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, able to inspire confidence in clients and partners alike.
  • Expertise in structured sales methodologies (E.g. Solution Selling, SPIN, Strategic Selling, Power Base and MADKAM), with a results-driven mindset.
  • A passion for making an impact—your ideas and contributions will help shape the future of Sword's solutions.
