Electrical Engineering Department Head

The Role:

Due to expansion in our our sister company TUV Rheinland Industrial Services (TRIS), a brand new permanent role has opened for an Electrical Engineering Department Head to be based in their office in Billingham (hybrid)


The Electrical Engineering Department Head will focus on managing and advising on all technical aspects of the Electrical Engineering project process, by creating project schedules for assigned projects and managing the engineering team to deliver them to time and budget.

You will:

  • Participate and coordinate both internal and external project meetings with the engineering teams, clients and suppliers whilst taking into account the multidiscipline nature of plant design.
  • Independently liaise and communicate with the appropriate disciplines and customers as required. (Customer facing role)
  • Circulate project information, scope, etc. with a multidiscipline team and develop and maintain project budgets and schedules.
  • Work closely with department heads, monitor and assess design progress and productivity, and take corrective action if necessary..
  • Conduct fitness-for-service assessments of pressure equipment and systems and liaise with clients, project managers, and surveyors ensuring documentation is complete and meets regulatory standards.


You will have:

  • A Degree (BEng, MEng, or equivalent) in a technical Engineering and preferably chartered status
  • At least 10 years of electrical engineering experience ideally in oil & gas/chemical industry with at least 5 years in an EPC
  • Have a demonstrable track record of delivering projects, working with clients and managing multi disciplines teams
  • Expertise in MS office suit, AVEVA E3D, the design of HV & LV power distribution, switch gear panels and MCC’s
