Location: Manchester (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

The Pre-Configuration Engineer is responsible for preparing and configuring video conferencing (VC) hardware prior to deployment. This process ensures that equipment is updated, tested, and partially configured before shipment, reducing on-site installation time and minimizing delays caused by software or firmware updates. The role involves identifying DOA (Dead on Arrival) hardware, applying OS and vendor updates, and performing pre-setup tasks aligned with project requirements to guarantee that shipped hardware is fully operational and up to date.

Key Responsibilities
- Always represent SCC professionally.
- Perform pre-configuration of VC hardware to ensure systems are updated and ready for deployment.
- Apply OS, firmware, and vendor software updates to all hardware prior to shipping.
- Identify and report any DOA hardware during pre-configuration.
- Carry out initial setup and partial configuration based on project specifications.
- Document all pre-configuration activities and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to ensure readiness of hardware.
- Provide technical support and advice related to pre-configuration processes.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with AV technologies.
- Knowledge of AV and VC hardware platforms (Crestron, Extron, Cisco, Poly, etc.).
- Familiarity with OS and firmware update processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify hardware issues early.
- Ability to follow technical documentation and project requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills for collaboration with internal teams.
- Physical ability to handle hardware safely.
- Valid driver’s license (may require occasional travel to warehouse or client site).
