In support of our continued UK growth, we are currently seeking an Automation Consultant to join our automation practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for a smart, high-energy individual, who is passionate about network automation and the benefits it can bring to an organisation.
Your role as Automation Consultant
The automation practice delivers a blend of pre-sales consultation and professional services to customers, providing tailored automation solutions. As an Automation Consultant, you will engage with clients from the early stages of project scoping, through to design, deployment, and successful handover.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about network automation, who thrives on solving complex challenges, enjoys collaborating with customers, and can think on their feet. Your responsibilities will vary, from implementing a single source of truth for a customer, to managing networks as code, or designing APIs to integrate automation tools. The scope of work is broad, but you will be part of a collaborative team and receive all the training and support necessary to succeed.

To excel in this role, you will have a blend of the following essential skills and experience:
- Passion for DevOps and the transformative potential of automation
- A minimum of two years’ experience developing Object-Oriented Python
- Proven ability to run workshops, lead design workstreams, and confidently present technical solutions to customers
- Strong understanding of network and cloud security best practices
- Hands-on experience developing and integrating APIs (REST, GraphQL, NETCONF, gRPC)
- Familiarity implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Github/Gitlab)
- Enthusiasm for software testing and familiarity with unit testing (pytest)
- Proficiency building and troubleshooting containerised services using Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience managing environments using infrastructure configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure in one or more of the following platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
- At least two years’ experience in a network engineering or similar role
- Strong foundational knowledge of networking fundamentals: OSI, IP protocols, dynamic routing, firewalls, DNS, HTTP, BGP, MPLS
- Familiarity with, or certifications in, tools or technologies such as: Netbox, IP Fabric, Slurpit, Itential, Apstra, Juniper, Nokia, Arista
- Experience with a test-driven development approach
- Experience working in Scrum teams
- Location: This is a hybrid role, requiring attendance at our Basingstoke office (free hot & cold drinks, breakfast items, snacks, lunches, and regular takeaway Fridays are provided to all staff in the office!)
- Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm, with occasional evening or weekend work if required
- Travel: The role includes travel within the UK, with some overnight stays, and occasional international trips if required
- Requirements: You will be required to attend customer sites across the UK and must therefore have a full UK driving licence
